  • Summary

Now I shoot the Beeman P3 single stroke pneumatic air pistol for accuracy for the initially time because I acquired it. You will don’t forget that when I tested it for velocity two reports back (Aspect two of the P3 report), I found it was a small slow, so in Aspect three of this report I rebuilt each it and the Beeman P17 pistol. I did film that rebuild, but following editing most of it I consider it is as well boring to publish, so that 1 is going away. Sorry about that.

I remounted the Millett red dot sight that came with the P3 and then proceeded to the sight-in variety, which is 12 feet from the target. The initially shot was a 10, so sight-in was accomplished! The Millett sight had come back to exactly where it was when I took it off the pistol, assuming it was sighted in then!

The test

For this test I shot from 10-meters off a sandbag rest. I decided to shoot five-shot groups and then take the finest pellet from them to shoot a final 10-shot group. Wait till you see what occurred! I was also supposed to shoot groups with pellets seated flush and deep, but I forgot to seat deep, so all the groups in this test are with the pellet seated flush. Having said that, I am not going to run one more test. It is as well really hard to deep-seat pellets anyway.

Meisterkugeln Rifle

The initially pellet tested was the RWS Meisterkugeln Rifle wadcutter. I anticipated the pellet to rise from the sight-in shot, but it didn’t. It hit the 9-ring to the ideal of the sight-in shot. Then I shot four much more without the need of searching by way of the spotting scope. 5 shots went into .485-inches at 10 meters with the final four going in .185-inches!

The sight-in shot is to the left. The 5 Meisterkugeln that have been shot from 10 meters are .485-inches amongst centers, with the final four becoming .185-inches!

Group two

That target was so encouraging that I decided to shoot the similar pellet once more. I adjusted the dot sight 1 click down and 1 click to the left and then shot group two. This time 5 pellets went into .221-inches from 10 meters. This pistol can shoot!

At 10 meters the P3 place five Meisterkugeln Rifle pellets in .221-inches amongst centers.

Air Arms Falcons

I adjusted the dot sight two much more clicks to the left prior to shooting once more. Subsequent up have been Air Arms Falcon pellets. In some cases they are surprisingly correct — specially in weaker airguns. This time 5 of them went into .79-inches, so the P3 does not appear to choose Falcons.

5 Falcon domes went into .79-inches at 10 meters.

RWS Hobby

I attempted RWS Hobby pellets subsequent, but I consider I lost count and only shot four as an alternative of five. In the previous I have had good measures in spot to know for specific that five pellets have been shot, but this time I lost track and wasn’t positive. When I saw the target I could only see four distinct holes, so I’m calling this four shots. The group measures .42-inches amongst centers, so Hobbys are possibly a great pellet in this pistol.

4 RWS Hobby pellets went into .42-inches at 10 meters.

RWS Match Pistol

Then I attempted RWS R10 Match Pistol pellets. They produced a strange vertical group that measures .538-inches amongst centers. Provided the accuracy of some other pellets, the R10 Match Pistol is possibly not for the P3.

5 RWS R10 Match Pistol pellets went into .538-inches at 10 meters.

RWS Superdome

The final pellet I attempted was the RWS Superdome. In some cases Superdomes surprise me and this was 1 of these occasions. 5 Superdomes went into .351-inches at 10 meters. The group is good and round like the Meisterkugeln group, so I guess the P3 definitely likes most RWS pellets.

Eleven Meisterkugeln pellets

The RWS Meisterkugeln pellets have been the finest of the 5 I tested, so I decided to shoot a final 10-shot group of them. Having said that, one thing strange occurred in the course of the test. The pistol pumped quite quickly for the fourth shot and I figured it would go low. I could have shot it away from the target, and was tempted to, but I also wanted to see exactly where it would go if I sighted for a great shot. So I did. I shot with the similar hold that was employed for all the other pellets and as you can see, the pellet landed low on the target but in line with the center of the bull.

Soon after that low shot I fired one more 7 pellets, simply because that shot didn’t count. The 10 great shots landed in a strange tight and round group of eight that measures .284-inches amongst centers, with two flyers that open the 10 shots to .735-inches. Why these two shots landed exactly where they did I do not know, but I did see the pistol raise in recoil a couple occasions. I ordinarily say these SSPs are recoilless, but the P3 undoubtedly flipped up. Possibly that explains it. I have no other concept of what occurred.

Final week I told you that in the course of a 10-meter pistol match my pistol ran out of CO2 and a dropped a shot low. This is the similar predicament only it occurred with a pneumatic.

Ten Meisterkugeln landed in .735-inches at 10 meters, with eight of them in .284-inches. The shot that landed low was the fourth shot that wasn’t pressurized all the way.

The Beeman P3 versus the Beeman P17

There is no doubt about it — the Beeman P17 is a finest invest in. It often has been and, now that reader 45Bravo has shown us how to overhaul it, there is no purpose to forego getting 1.

Having said that

The P3 has the far better trigger, hands down. And its internal components are completed far better. And, from today’s test, we see that it is slightly much more correct — or at least of the two guns I’m testing the P3 is the much more correct. The finest the P17 could do for me was 5 shots in .394-inches at 10 meters, versus today’s finest of 5 in .221-inches. And each guns did their finest with RWS Meisterkugeln Rifle pellets.

The P17 is the far better worth and the P3 is the pistol with far better top quality all round. The choice is yours, as often.

Summary

This series of reports need to final a quite extended time. In it we compared the two pistols side-by-side, we discovered that the P17 was under no circumstances a Weihrauch creation, we discovered how to overhaul the guns with o-rings that are readily offered and we discovered that dot sights will bring out their finest. I will be recommending the P17 as a finest present worth this vacation season, and the P3 as a finest heirloom worth.
