Suspect arrested for allegedly firing a gun at a Dollar Basic

TOLEDO (WTVG) – Dramatic moments inside a Dollar Basic in Toledo immediately after a man fired a shot.

According to police, the suspect, Matthew Williams Jr., allegedly had a gun that had been reported stolen in July of final year.

“He seemed disoriented and was speaking about men and women have been threatening to kill him,” says Lt. Kevan Toney of the Toledo Police Division.

Witnesses say Williams left the retailer with the retailer telephone and additional shots have been fired.

In a 911 contact released to 13abc, you can hear a witness say, “It is a guy on Airport close to Dollar Basic standing in the middle of the road. He has on a gray sweatsuit and he has a gun. He just shot his gun into the air.”

Toledo Police say officers have been capable to speak him down. Court documents say the suspect told officers he took percocets and smoked marijuana.

Williams faces numerous charges stemming from the incident, which includes a charge of “employing weapons whilst intoxicated.”
