Gong and Farmer Safe Quotas at Planet Shooting Para Sport Championships

Xiao Gong on the opening day of the Planet Shooting Para Sport Championships

Xiao Gong (Malibu, Calif.) and Taylor Farmer (Castalia, Ohio) each secured Paralympic Games quota slots for the United States in the course of the opening day of the 2019 Planet Shooting Para Sport Championships in Sydney, Australia.

Farmer led 3 American athletes in the mixed air rifle prone competitors. She was the higher U.S. finisher in 19th spot with a total of 630.1. Her functionality secured a female quota spot for the U.S. for the 2020 Paralympic Games, bringing the total quota count for this Paralympic cycle to 3 for Group USA.

Kevin Nguyen (Columbus, Ga.) shot a 626. to spot 52nd and Len Esparza (Cupertino, Calif.) was 61st with a total score of 622.. Wonderful Britain’s Matt Skelhon won the gold medal ahead of Australia’s Anton Zappelli and China’s Yan Yaping.

Competitors at the Planet Shooting Para Sport Championships in Sydney continues Sunday with the mixed standing 10m air rifle featuring Americans McKenna Dahl (Arlington, Wash.) and Jazmin Almlie (Houston, Texas).
