So, there is not considerably data on this pack…initially issued to the Scouts in the 30’s, and then replaced, and then re-issued in the 50’s or 60’s. As close to as I can surmise on this certain pack, mainly from the logo, I assume this pack is a 60’s pack.
Also, I never assume the frame is portion of the pack, initially, an individual married the Yucca to the frame, which from some images I located, it appears the frame is from one more Scout pack that came later…the 70’s, I assume. Becoming a frame pack type of guy, I really like it and am going to hold it.
My intention is to bring this pack back to life and use it as my daily Bushcraft/Dayhike pack.
What I intend to do is use leather cord for the side lacing, with some type of toggle cord lock…not plastic, possibly wood, or antler, or some thing like that. I will give the leather straps a great therapy of Obenauf’s.
For the canvas, I am considering that I may possibly clean it..but I am hesitant simply because I have no encounter cleaning canvas and not confident what solution to trust for the job. I never want it sparkling clean or something, just searching to bring some well being and life back into the canvas.
After I get the canvas clean, I want to wax it inside and out. I have been searching into that a small bit and am leaning toward working with Otter Wax for the job.
So, if anybody has any expertise about this pack, the Yucca 574, I would really like to hear it…there is truly incredibly small about it on-line, and only 1 video that I located on Youtube.
Also, if anybody has any expertise or recommendations about restoring old canvas, I would really like to get some useful assistance, while from the images the canvas on this pack appears to be in fairly decent shape for it is age.
